Nurse by day, Comedienne by night! Marj's unique and slightly twisted look at life, relationships and getting older has left audiences doubled over with laughter.
As a child Marj showed her creative side by getting people to laugh with her instead of at her appearance.
Marj's creativity laid smoldering just beneath the surface for many years until she found an outlet through Community Theater as a character actor. Some of Marj's most memorable roles were: Miss Hannigan in "Annie"; Madame Arcotti in "Blithe Spirit"; Ouiser in "Steel Magnolias"; Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz"; and of course her portrayal of Louise the cook in the melodrama "Love, Sick & Montezuma’s Gold" which caught the eye of Comedian Scott Novotny. After much prodding, Marj agreed to take Scott Novotny's comedy class and give stand-up a whirl. The reluctance was due to fear. But, when Marj's first bit got the audience laughing, the fear vanished and she hasn't looked back!
Marj has definitely left her mark throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. Being able to perform a ‘clean’ show has also opened the door to corporate contracts & family friendly venues.
"Stand-up provides a ‘high’ that cannot be explained – it must be experienced. It’s that ‘high’ that keeps me on this crazy ride called stand-up comedy." -- Marj Rowan.
